Milky Quayle, Isle of Man TT veteran racer once said: “The Mountain Course area is full of dangerous bends but Ballagarey is the scariest and most important bend.”
Ballagarey turns appear quite early, right after the riders start so they do not have the best concentration state. The riders usually rush to the curve at a very high speed and out of the corner is a straight line up to 3.4 km long. Saving every second in Ballagarey will be an advantage for the racer in the straight line later.
In this turn, the car can reach speeds of about 290 km / h and things get worse. In 2010, Guy Martin lost control of the CBR1000RR in this turn and crashed into the rock wall along the road, causing the car to explode.
The challenge is that Ballagarey is a corner, the racer cannot see what is on the other side. If a racer rushes into the corner at a slow speed or uses the brake, he will lose precious seconds.
Milky Quayle, who memorized each of the tracks, became the third winner of the Isle of Man TT in 2002. He retired a year later due to a catastrophic accident. .
