The last glance is looking at the target ball, not the cue ball, in fact the fact that you close your eyes while hitting rarely affects the accuracy once you have a perfect aim and click. Try to poke through the cue ball without reviewing the feeling of clicking. The swing is the length of the oscillation when it clicks.
